Day 1 – Welcome to San Jose!

Arrival in San José.  Welcome Reception to meet your fellow travellers and get a preview of the week ahead.  Relax and prepare for tomorrow’s adventure.

 


This could be Day 8, depending on how you’re counting!


Day 2

Manuel Antonio National Park


This morning your journey will take you to the warm Central Pacific, in the route observe beautiful landscapes and picturesque villages typical of the country, do not forget to stop on the bridge over the Tárcoles River to watch the giant crocodiles.

The Manuel Antonio National Park is known for its beautiful beaches between mountains and forests. It has several trails for walking, viewpoints, and a high probability of seeing animals, especially the 4 species of Costa Rican monkeys, sloths, coatis, and raccoons.  

Day 3

Arenal Trail 1968


Awaiting you today in the Northern Plains is the impressive Arenal Volcano, a natural wonder with an iconic cone-shaped crater.  The park rangers keep a close eye on the volcanic activity, and will not hesitate to close trails or portions of the park if they feel that it is unsafe.

Along the way there, you will see plantations of various agricultural crops, ornamental plants, and cattle ranches until you reach the town of La Fortuna.  The town is worth visiting to walk and to have lunch or dinner on your own.

Three nights in Arenal, strategically located to appreciate the volcano. 

 

 

Day 4

Float Safari and Arenal Campesina


To safari Costa Rica is the best and most complete way to see the country!

The Peñas Blancas river safari float is a pleasant and fun tour. You can enjoy the sights and sounds of the rainforest and experience its peacefulness as we quietly paddle the Peñas Blancas river.

Monkeys, sloths, iguanas, crocodiles and a vast array of colorful tropical birds await you!

This day also includes medicinal plants and traditional crops of Costa Rica, a sugar cane liquor tasting, a cooking class with a family-style dinner, ending with a special farewell treat!

It’s going to be a long day!!

 


Day 5

La Fortuna Waterfall, Hanging Bridges and Hot Springs


Experience the breathtaking natural cool La Fortuna Waterfall, with spectacular views of the surrounding lush tropical environment of flora and fauna. Uou will trek through the rainforest for about 20 minutes to reach the waterfall.

The day continues at the Hanging Bridges, an environmentally-friendly nature project to see the Costa Rica rainforest, this is a perfect hiking and walking activity.

Next we’ll head to the Hot Springs, here you can enjoy the relaxing baths and waterfalls. At the end of the day, you’ll have a delicious buffet dinner.

Day 6

Central Pacific, Pura Vida Waterfall and San José


The Estuary of Guacalillo and the Tarcoles River offer the opportunity to observe one of the largest populations of American crocodile (Crocodylus acutus) in America.  Discover the mangrove area with a high percentage of biodiversity, among which there is a large number of waterfowl and one of the most important conservation areas of the Scarlet Macaw in the country.

Next, it’s on to the Pura Vida Waterfall Gardens.  This private botanical garden offers great views of Manantial de Agua Viva cascading down the side of a cliff.

Back in San José for the last two nights.

 

 

Day 7

Tortuga Island Tour


The Gulf of Nicoya’s archipelago paradise is made up of various islands that are home to nature’s abundance. The area is a sanctuary for marine birds, with white sand beaches and flora and fauna native to our Central Pacific Coast. The world-renowned Isla Tortuga is part of this beautiful archipelago.

The area maintains the Bandera Azul Ecológica, a distinction awarded to certain beaches in Costa Rica for their pure, unpolluted waters. Because of the island’s location, its waves are gentle and its waters turquoise.

 

Day 8 – You don’t have to leave, but this tour is over

Your Costa Rica experience has come to an end.

You will be transferred to the Airport for your flight home or wherever the wind may take you!
